Works Department apologizes to Minister after pothole causes his injury

Potholes had been an issue in Malaysia for decades and they had caused many accidents, from minor ones to even deaths.

It was on 27 December 2020 when the Minister of Science, Technology, and Innovation, Khairy Jamaluddin went cycling in Ulu Langat and got fall from his bike due to a pothole. Khairy had suffered bruises here and there, but fortunately there is nothing major.

Later that day, Kuala Langat Works Department had issued an apology to him stating that:

“The Kuala Langat roadworks department apologizes for the accident that befell YB. The department will take action immediately on this matter and we pray that YB will recover soon.”

The pothole was fixed by the Works Department on 3.30p.m. on the next day, 28 December 2020.

After seeing how fast a pothole can be fixed, this had triggered dissatisfaction among the netizens. Many of them gotten into an accident because of potholes and had lodged several complaints. However, no actions were taken to rectify them. They were angered by the biasness in the treatment between them and to Khairy Jamaluddin’s.

It seems that JPJ is making fun of the Works Department by criticizing whether they should apologize for all the other cases too.
