Different people speak at different speeds. If this difference is making you annoyed, specifically when you’re listening to a voice message someone left you in WhatsApp, your problems could be soon solved!
WhatsApp is running beta versions on the option to increase the playback speed as seen in some podcast managers.
The feature was spotted and confirmed by several different users who are using the beta version from the standard Play Store Beta Channel.
To activate the variable playback speed, simply tap on the “1.0x” icon next to the progress bar of an active voice message. As of now, WhatsApp provides the option of 1.0x, 1.5x and 2.0x, which is a much simpler function than what we usually see for this type of function. However, it’s just a beta version and it may be improvised in the future, whereby WhatsApp might include a “slow-down” playback option.
This function will be rolled out to all users slowly. Despite that, some users were able to access this function more than a month ago, so it appears that WhatsApp is rather slow in deployment.
This indicates that WhatsApp is updating their servers to facilitate this function, so don’t be disappointed if you don’t see the option immediately. Hopefully, it won’t be long before they make its official release to all users.
In addition, the update in the latest beta version includes a bigger image and video preview, and the disappearing messages option is now available for all users in group chats by default!
