Water Levels In Parts Of Shah Alam Rises Again After Midnight Downpour

The water levels in several areas in Shah Alam rose again on Wednesday (22 December) morning after a heavy downpour during the wee hours.

The matter was confirmed by the official media of the Selangor state government, Media Selangor and it reported that the areas affected were TTDI Jaya area and Section 13 stadium, Bukit Jelutong Shah Alam Toll.

Meanwhile, this has caused several expressways to once again be flooded. It is reported that the traffic at Elite Highway leading to the Shah Alam Toll Plaza is now moving slowly after the right lane was flooded due to flash floods.

In addition, the Guthrie Highway leading to the Shah Alam Toll Plaza was also flooded, with some lanes being closed, leading to caused traffic congestion.

Meanwhile, the authorities had advised the public to avoid these expressways and look for alternatives to avoid getting stuck in the expressway.

“The public is advised to avoid passing through those areas, and to be careful while on the road,” it said.

MBSA also said that at 9am, water levels were high at the TTDI Jaya area and the Stadium in Seksyen 13.

Meanwhile, Media Selangor had also informed of the bad weather that will occur in Sabak Bernam, Kuala Selangor, Klang, Petaling, Kuala Langat, and Sepang on Wednesday (22 December), according to Malaysia’s Meteorological Department (METMalaysia).

Heavy downpours are also expected to occur in Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya, and several districts in Johor, namely Pontian, Kulai, and Johor Bahru.

“Warnings are issued when there are signs of thunderstorms with rain intensity exceeding 20 mm/hour that are close or expected to occur for more than an hour.”

“A thunderstorm warning is a short-term warning that is valid for a period not exceeding 6 hours for a single issue,” MetMalaysia said.
