Watch: Police convoy drives into opposite lane of a single-lane road to beat the traffic

Just last month, a pick-up truck was reprimanded by Malaysians for attempting to overtake a lorry in front despite it being a single-lane road. The driver was later issued a fine by the police too.

However, what if the police themselves are the ones who committed the offence?

Recently, Twitter user @jllmisai uploaded a dashcam footage that showed the dashcam owner driving in his lane while the opposite lane had slight congestion.

Out of nowhere, a police convoy and tow trucks appeared in front of the dashcam owner and were coming right at him. The driver was then forced to swerve to the side of the road to avoid a collision.

“Congratulations PDRM. The safety of the ordinary people are disregarded,” the user wrote in the tweet.

The tweet had since gone viral online, garnering over 500,000 views and 20,000 retweets at the time of writing. In the comment section, netizens also express their angry on how the police force can blatantly break the rules, especially when it comes to escorting VIPs.

“Wah….cut through the double line. I thought only ambulances have the license to do so,” a netizen commented.

“In such situations, is PDRM allowed to endanger their personnel’s lives and the public’s as well, JPJ Malaysia?” another netizen asked.

Meanwhile, some netizens pointed out that police convoys had long been a nuisance to Malaysians and they occasionally cause hazard to other road users.

Some even tagged the PDRM’s official account to call them out to explain themselves. At the time of writing, the police have yet to issue any statement regarding this incident.
