Watch: Hardcore badminton fan asked national shuttler for their badminton racquet

With the recent victory of the Malaysian team in the Asia Team Championships (BATC) 2022, some of our national shuttlers had found themselves under the spotlight for bringing back home glory.

Meanwhile, fans who were supporting them were excited too, but some of them got too excited.

Recently, a persistent female badminton fan had gone up to national doubles shuttler Soh Wooi Yik to ask for his racket so she could keep it as a memory.

In the video that went viral on social media, she can be seen approaching Soh Wooi Yik at the back of the badminton court, begging him for his racket.

However, Soh was unable to fulfil her request and politely apologise to her.

Netizens criticised the girl’s actions and said she should be embarrassed by her actions. Some said she should have asked for an autograph instead.

It is believed that this fan was probably inspired by another lucky badminton fan who managed to get hold of Lee Zii Jia’s shoe during a giveaway.

Despite going through great lengths to support their idols, that doesn’t mean that they can do whatever they want.

Malaysia’s rising star

The world no.7 pair Aaron Chia – Soh Wooi Yik is part of the Malaysian team that emerged victorious at the recently concluded Asia Team Championships (BATC) 2022.

The duo managed to defeat Kim Hwi-Tae-Kim Jae-hwan of South Korea and Leo Rolly-Daniel Marthin of Indonesia in the semi-finals and final respectively, securing the gold medal in the championships.

Meanwhile, Soh is said to be using the Victor Jetspeed S 10, which is claimed to be one of the best doubles rackets ever released by Victor, a Taiwanese manufacturer of sporting equipment.
