TM Reintroduces Broadband Lite 1Mbps for RM 38 Per Month

TM has reintroduced its Broadband Lite package which comes with 1Mbps download speed alongside 384kbps upload speed.

It was done through a thread that was created on 11 June 2021 in the unifi Community which is the built-in forum within unifi’s website.

In the thread, the company pointed out that this plan is not for everyone. As reported by Amanz, the Broadband Lite 1Mbps plan has actually been around for quite some time and the FAQ document that TM has put up on unifi’s website which was dated 25 September 2018 has pretty much proved the point.

That being said, there is nothing much to update anyway as what stated in the thread is identical to the FAQ and unifi’s website:

Just like back in 2018, customers that want to subscribe to the Broadband Lite plan in 2021 must already have a TM fixed line at their premise. Similarly, their data speed will be throttled to 128kbps once the 1GB quota has been fully utilized and will return to 1Mbps once again on the first day of the following month.

The Broadband Lite customers will also receive a free wireless router but will be bound to a 12-month contract. Not to forget, customers also have to physically visit a TMpoint, which actually still open throughout the country with the exception of branches within EMCO areas and Sarawak, if they want to subscribe to this plan.

With a connection speed and data quota that is very restrictive, it is hard not to wonder why TM decided to reintroduce this plan once again. In general, you would be better off with a mobile broadband plan which offers a much faster speed and higher quota but of course, there is always a question of mobile coverage which is something that you don’t have to worry about with a fixed line.
