Seremban Friday Prayers gathering, JHEAINS clarifies no breach of SOP

With Movement Control Order (MCO) 2.0 being imposed on almost the whole of Malaysia, religious gatherings are considered as a no-no according to the SOP. However, a netizen who’s driving pass a mosque in Seremban on 22 January 2021 had notice the irregularities.

There had been waves of people coming out from the mosque, and since it’s a Friday, it’s the Friday prayers. The netizen had recorded his journey through the mosque and there are some who didn’t even wear a mask.

According to ChinaPress, after this incident went heated, Jabatan Hal Ehwal Agama Islam Negeri Sembilan (JHEAINS) had clarified that the mosque had been guarded by police and all SOPs had been strictly adhere too.

In the report, it is stated that the mosque can fit up to 3,000 people and to ensure sufficient social distancing, it can only fit up to 1,200 people. On the reported day, there were only 900 people who attend the Friday prayers.
