Save Up To RM400 By Buying Electronic Appliances Under SAVE 3.0

The Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources has launched the Sustainability Achieved Efficiency (SAVE) 3.0 programme which encourage consumers to purchase energy efficient with 4 star or 5 star energy efficiency labels from the Energy Commission (ST).

According to Berita Harian, its minister Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan said consumers will be given e-rebates under this programme and it will be funded by the Electricity Supplies Industry Trust Account (AAIBE).

He added that the SAVE 3.0 is a continuation of the SAVE 1.0 and SAVE 2.0 programme, but with more choices of electronic appliances.

Takiyuddin said the government is targeting energy savings of up to 153 GigaWattjoule (GWh), which is equivalent to RM60.45 million a year. In addition, this helps reduce carbon emissions by 103,890 tonnes annually!

Previously, the SAVE 2.0 programme was limited to only air conditioners and refrigerators with a rebate value of RM200, while with the new SAVE 3.0 programme, consumers can redeem up to RM400 worth of e-rebates.

How do you get these e-rebates?

According to Bernama, the SAVE 3.0 rebates are only limited to Malaysian citizens and one electricity bill account for electrical appliances purchased this year on a first-come, first-serve basis.

The appliances can be purchased via two methods, namely by presenting the electricity bill personally (to buy electrical items) at registered shops or supermarkets or applying for an e-rebate through recognised e-commerce platforms such as Shopee, Lazada and PG Mall.

For electrical appliances that fall under category one, the value of the e-rebate that can be redeemed for the purchase of refrigerators and air conditioners is RM200. While under category two, the value of the e-rebate provided is RM200 for televisions, washing machines (RM200), microwave ovens (RM100) or rice cookers (RM50).

Meanwhile, Takiyuddin said those who had redeemed the flood relief rebate could still apply for SAVE 3.0 as they were different programmes despite using the same platform.

“The SAVE programme’s e-rebate application is only for the purchase of energy-efficient electrical appliances, and redemption cannot be made using rebates from the flood relief. These two rebates must go through separate transactions,” he added.

The application for the rebates starts on 7 January. Hurry up and redeem your e-rebates now!
