Police Nabs 5 Suspects For Setting Fire To Customs Officer’s Car

The police have detained 5 suspects who allegedly set fire to a car belonging to a Customs officer at Taman Pandamaran Permai on Thursday (18 November).

Selangor police chief Comm Datuk Arjunaidi Mohamed said the suspects, aged between 30 and 60 year-old, were believed to be working in the forwarding and logistics field.

“The motive of the case is believed to be Customs-related.” he was quoted saying by The Star in a press conference.

He said the investigations revealed the Customs officer who worked at Port Klang had previously reported that his personal Proton X70 car was splashed with paint on Tuesday (16 November).

“He then sent the car to have the paint removed and cleaned on the day the car was set on fire.”

“We have remanded the suspects to help with further investigations.”

“The case has been classified under Section 435 of the Penal Code for causing mischief by fire.” he said.

Previously, it was reported that a Proton X70 belonging to a Customs officer was believed to have been set on fire at a car wash in Taman Pandamaran Permai.

It is said that the vehicle was sent to the car wash for polishing before it was set on fire at the car wash.

Selangor Fire and Rescue Department operations control centre chief Zulkifar Jaffas said they received a call about the incident at 11.03am on Thursday (18 November).

He also said the vehicle was destroyed in the fire while the roof of the car wash sustained some damage.
