The Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) has just tighten the rules for interstate travel yesterday, 15 April after observing a surge in Covid-19 cases across Malaysia.
As reported in Harian Metro, Deputy Inspector, General of Police, Datuk Seri Acryl Sani Abdullah Sani said that the only 3 reasons one can travel interstate is as follow.
- Immediate family emergency cases (with supporting documents attached)
- Death, and
- Long-distance spouses
However, netizens had been skeptical about these 3 conditions that can only be used for interstate travel purposes as we’ve already tons of examples of how people are abusing them.
“The standard operating procedure (SOP) monitoring team has been instructed to be strict in enforcing the SOPs set by the National Security Council (MKN).” he told Harian Metro.
It is also stressed that travelling interstate is not allowed for the purpose of attending weddings and other festive gatherings.
The same notice that was instructed to PDRM had been shared to the social media as to inform the public.
