Everybody is familiar with the Royal Malaysia Police’s (PDRM) Proton Saga and Honda Civic 1.8S patrol and chase cars but these may soon become history.
Recently, there were rumours that PDRM is getting the BMW M3 High Performance car as their latest royal acquisition.
Photos of the new BMW M3 had went viral on social media and netizens are now wondering if PDRM is undergoing another round of upgrade.
Meanwhile, the vehicle is said to worth RM665,000 in its standard spec alone by Carlist.my. Nonetheless, it is reasonable to assume that the PDRM is undergoing another round of upgrade, given that the advanced vehicles on the street now.
The BMW M3 features a twin-turbocharged 3.0-litre straight-six mill, which has 473hp/550Nm or 503hp/650Nm on the Competition variants.
In comparison, the Evo X only has 290hp/366Nm of torque, so the Helang Team will be getting a vehicle that is at the very least 180hp more powerful than their current car.
Meanwhile, there were some netizens who asked if these new chase cars are for the upcoming local movie, but there is nobody to confirm it.
On the other hand, Vocket Car Club has in the comment sections confirmed that these vehicles are not meant for any film production.
As of now, the PDRM has yet to make any official statement regarding the new acquisition.
