Oh no! We may not be able to Balik Kampung as KKM suggests Interstate Travel be Postponed

Just when we saw a glimpse of hope when the daily Covid-19 cases starts reducing last month, the cases started to show a spike recently and there are even rumours that the fourth wave is starting.

Many may have been looking forward to balik kampung during the festive season. However, the Ministry of Health is considering a delay in the interstate travels for this coming Hari Raya Aidilfitri, according to BERNAMA.

The ministry also mentioned that if the number of cases continues to rise and new clusters are being formed from Ramadhan bazaars, they will be forced to take action and close the said Ramadhan bazaars.

As to ensure that the situation do not go from bad to worse, Ministry of Housing and Local Government (KPKT Malaysia) had once again share the SOPs for Ramadhan bazaar go-ers and urge the public to comply with, else a compound will be issued.

Here’s the summary of the SOPs that both stall owners and customers should take note.

  • Ramadhan bazaars can only sell food and beverages & the operate from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m.
  • Aidilfitri bazaars can only sell dry goods & the operate from 10 a.m. to 12 a.m.
  • Bazaar-goers will have to scan the MySejahtera QR code, sanitise their hands, and get their temperature taken. They will need to practice physical distancing as well.
  • Local government authorities are given the power by the Ministry of Health to issue compounds under Act 342 to those who do not comply with the SOPs set in place.

Let us unite once again to face this pandemic!
