The Pandemic Management Special Committee meeting today, decided on several more relaxations for the employment and economic sectors effective from this Friday for states that are in Phases One and Two of the National Recovery Plan (PPN).

The Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob, said the meeting decided that several new concessions for the employment and economic sectors effective Friday would also be given for states still in Phase One of the VAT.

“It involves the supply of minerals and rock materials including sand as well as the movement from quarry mineral tenements or dredging sites to premises or sites of major public infrastructure construction projects and permitted building construction works and necessary industrial/service premises.

“The export of minerals and rock materials including river sand abroad as well as wood and kenaf -based plantations are also allowed.

“Several types of businesses are also allowed in the VAT Phase 1 state with prescribed vaccine conditions, including photographic shops and services; second -hand goods; flower shops/ nurseries; handicrafts and souvenirs; antiques; toys; carpets; creative industry content and equipment; outdoor shops (including camping equipment, fishing etc); cosmetics shops, skincare and perfume shops as well as tobacco shops (including vape/electronic cigarettes), “he said in a statement today.

Ismail Sabri said, for the VAT Phase 2 state, all private offices are allowed to operate with a capacity of 60 percent of employees, if 40 percent of their employees have been fully vaccinated.

He said the capacity of 80 per cent of workers was allowed if 60 per cent of the workers were fully vaccinated, while the capacity of 100 per cent was allowed if 80 per cent of the workers were completely vaccinated.

“Employee vehicles with fully vaccinated passengers are also allowed at 100 per cent capacity,” he said.

The Prime Minister also said that physical contact sports and recreation activities involving the operation of open (outdoor) and indoor (indoor) sports and recreation facilities in Phase 2 and 3 VAT states are allowed to individuals who are fully vaccinated.

He said the activities should be carried out by reservation, use scheduling and close monitoring, in addition to sanitized facilities.

He said team sports and recreational activities involving physical contact such as football, volleyball and takraw were allowed according to the full capacity of the sport for fully vaccinated individuals and performed on premises with full supervisory control.

“In addition, cruise ships are allowed to be opened at 50 per cent capacity with all crew and passengers must be fully vaccinated,” he said.

He said, pilgrimage to Islamic graves is allowed for each phase of VAT according to the ruling of the state religious authority, while pilgrimage to non-Muslim graves is allowed according to the ruling of the Ministry of National Unity.

In a separate development, Ismail Sabri announced that the Pandemic Management Special Committee Meeting agreed to allow the transition to Phase 3 for Terengganu effective tomorrow.

The Prime Minister said the flexibility was given the same way the state entered Phase 3 before and the latest standard operating procedures (SOP) would be updated by the National Security Council (MKN) at www.mkn.gov.my.

However, he said, the public is now beginning to ignore the SOP set following the relaxation announced by the government recently.

“In this regard, I hope the people continue to abide by the SOP to break the chain of COVID-19 infection,” he said.
