After 4 consecutive days of record breaking Covid-19 daily cases, Prime Minister, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin had no choice but to announce the Full Movement Control Order (MCO) to be implemented across Malaysia.
Muhyiddin had made the announcement on Facebook, saying that the National Security Council (MKN) had decided to stop all economic and social activities for 14 days starting 1 June to 14 June.
During this period, it is similar to MCO 1.0 whereby all sectors will not be allowed to operate except the essential services and economic sectors.
In addition, he said that if the first phase is successful in reducing the Covid-19 daily cases, more relaxation in the SOP will be allowed in the second phase, whereby more economic sectors that do not involved gathering in big groups will be allowed to operate.
Once the second phase ends, the third phase will be implemented and it will be somewhat similar to the MCO we are going through currently. However, this all depends on the the Covid-19 situation of Malaysia, which is measured by the daily number of cases.
Responding to the closure of economic sectors, Muhyiddin said that the Ministry of Finance (MOF) will provide financial aids for all those who are involved, be it individuals or businesses. He added that the announcement will be made soon once the terms have been finalised.
