An elderly couple was believed to have been slashed to death by their son with a machete at their house in Kampung Kemahang Hulu, Benta on Monday (4 October).
According to Utusan, the Lipis Police Chief, Superintendent Azli Mohd. Noor said the 31 year-old suspect was believed to be having a conversation with his parents on religious matters when the incident took place at about 11.30 p.m.
He added that they had received a report regarding the incident at 11.55 p.m. where a elderly man was lying unconsciously on the floor and he had sustained injuries in his neck.
Azli said the investigation found that the suspect was having a conversation about religious matters with his father.
“However, the suspect saw his father’s eyes turn ‘black’ and seemed to have wanted to attack him. The suspect then went into his room to retrieve a machete and slashed his father multiple times. It is believed that a fight broke out between the suspect and his father”
“The suspect’s mother who heard the fight came in to help her husband, but the suspect attacked her as well. She also sustained injuries to her neck and head.” Azli said.
The woman then run out of the house before she collapsed near the fence.
“The suspect then rushed out to look for his mother but he failed as it was dark outside. He then went back into the house before walking out to Jalan Raya Benta, Jerantut near the village.”
“After the incident, a resident went to the suspect’s house and found the body of the elderly man, who was being identified as Mohammad Maasai, and he worked as a security guard. He was lying on the floor covered in blood and lifeless.”
“The residents also found his mother, Zailan Zainudin, who is a pensioner, was lying on the grass near the fence. She was confirmed dead when being found.”
“The residents then contacted the Benta Police Station to lodge a report about the incident.”
Meanwhile, he said the villagers had detained the suspect and handed him over to the police.
“Police also seized a machete (machete) and other evidence on the murder and this case will be investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code.” he said.
Bernama also reported that the couple’s remains were taken to the Kuala Lipis Hospital for post-mortem examinations.
The suspect was tested positive for drugs and is being remanded for 7 days from Tuesday (5 October) to help in the investigation. The case is still under investigating too.
