Everybody in the bank panicked and someone shouted “Allahuakbar!” while escaping the scene.
The accident happened when a man who was trying to park his car, had accidentally rammed it into a bank in Bandar Inderapura, Jerantut, Pahang.
According to Sinar Harian, Jerantut District Police Chief, Supt Mazlan Hassan said the incident took place on Thursday (7 October), and it involved a 29 year-old who was driving a Proton Persona.
It is believed that the driver had accidentally stepped on the accelerator while trying to park right in front of the bank.
The crash the broke the glass wall at the bank’s front entrance and left everybody present at the scene in shock.
In an interview after the accident, a witness, Anuar Abdullah said he was waiting in line to use the automated teller machine (ATM) when he heard a loud bang and the sound of glass breaking.
“The incident happened in just a few seconds and all the customers in the bank was shocked.”
“Following which, someone shouted “Allahuakbar!” and people started running out of the bank of concern for their safety.”
“Fortunately, during the incident, all the customers were inside the bank and no one was out on the pavement. It’s just that the glass wall broke and no one was hurt.” he was quoted saying by Kosmo.
Mazlan said the case is currently being investigated under Rule 10 of the Road Traffic Rules 1959.
He added that there were no criminal elements found the incident and that the victim has filed a report at a police station.
