Defence Minister, Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri had recently announced that interstate travel will now be allowed between states under Recovery Movement Control Order (RMCO), however for tourism purposes only.
With Langkawi being reclassified as a green zone, Malaysians had seized this opportunity to go on vacations. Shortly a day after the travel ban was lifted, Langkawi Island is flooded with tourists again. Langkawi kini had share photos about how crowded the jetty of Langkawi is on 11 March, which is a public holiday for some states.
Langkawi kini had advised the tourists to comply to the SOP and keep Langkawi Island a green zone. They too felt relieved when Langkawi Island is filled with tourists.
If you are wondering how did these people went on a tour to Langkawi, it is because they went on a tour with travel agents and were using tourist vehicles. Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri had in his statement made it clear that private vehicle are still not allowed to travel interstate.
The travel agent will need to be registered under MOTEC (Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture) and approval from PDRM should be obtained before travelling.
Are you longing to be able to travel again? Obey the SOP and you’ll be able to do that soon. However, it requires a collective effort from everyone to make this possible.
