It is finally here! GSC Malaysia has announced its long awaited reopening on the Malaysia day (16 September)!
According to the latest SOP under the Phase 2 of the National Recovery Plan (NRP), cinemas are allowed to operate from 9 September but operators had decided to delay their reopening as they waited for the final SOP to be released and to prepare enough content.
Meanwhile, GSC Malaysia took to Facebook to announced the reopening of its cineplex in 17 location in the Klang Valey, Northern, and Southern region starting 16 September on Malaysia Day, while the other locations on 23 September.
Nonetheless, the current SOP allows cinemas to operate from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. with a 50% seating capacity in the screening halls. Movie-goers are required to wear a face mask and social distancing must be practices at all times.
Operations are also required to ensure a 1-metre gap between customers and monitor for SOP compliance. In addition, all employees of the operator must be fully vaccinated and pass a COVID-19 screening test.
Meanwhile, only fully vaccinated individuals were allowed to enter cinemas and movie-goers are required to show their digital vaccination certificate in their MySejahtera app as proof.
A person is only considered as fully vaccinated 14 days after they receive the second dose, while for those who received a single-shot vaccine, you are only counted as fully vaccinated 28 days after the job.
It was also reported that customers below 18 year-old are not allowed to enter the cinema.
Individuals or customers with a high-risk status in Mysejahtera are not allowed to enter the premises as well.
