Full version PERMAI: Easing people’s burden and helping the economy

Prime Minister Muhyiddin had on this evening announced the Pakej Bantuan Khas (PBK), or being known as Permai package to help easy the people and businesses’ burden and help restarting the economy.

Here’s the list of goodies that individuals are entitled to.

  • A bonus of RM500 for front liners who are working in the healthcare system, and RM300 for other front liners will be paid by the first quarter of 2021.
  • Existing monthly incentive of RM600 for front liners who are working in the healthcare system, and RM200 for other front liners will continue as normal until the pandemic is over.
  • Cost of Covid-19 tests for registered foreign workers who are working in red zones will be borne by Perkeso.
  • Medical check-up relief have been increased from RM500 to RM1,000, and it now covers Covid-19 tests.
  • Payment process for Bantuan Prihatin Nasional (BPN 2.0) will be hasten, starting from 20 January 2021.
  • Household with income less than RM5,000 will receive RM300.
  • Singles whos income is less than RM2,000 will receive RM150.
  • Increasing the payment rates for the beneficiaries from Jabatan Kebajikan Masyarakat (JKM).
  • Program Bakul Makanan or food assistance programme by JKM will be initiated. A box of food worth RM100 will be distributed to those who are eligible.
  • Tax relief for those who donated to victims of Covid-19.
  • Moratorium and loan restructuring programmes will be continued to be offered by banks.
  • Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) or Agency Kaunseling & Pengurusan Kredit (AKPK) will be offering assistance or counselling through calls.
  • EPF will be paying RM1,000 upfront for those who applied for i-Sinar category 2.
  • Tax relief up to RM2,500 for purchase of mobile phones, laptops, and tablets will be extended to 31 December 2021.
  • 1GB of data for internet surfing provided by all service providers will be extending their service to 30 April 2021.
  • Sales tax exemption on all passenger vehicles (locally assembled or imported) extended to 30 June 2021.
  • PTPTN borrowers are now able to apply for moratorium up to 3 months. Application must be submitted before 31 March 2021.
  • Individuals who lost their job and are not eligible under the minimum criteria for EIS will now be allowed apply for the insurance scheme and is entitled to claim 30% of their last pay salary for up to 3 months.
  • Delivery riders are now able to apply for Perkeso protection.
  • Students who apply for education loan from MARA are now able to apply for moratorium or loan restructuring scheme.
  • Electricity bill rebate of approximately 9% for all TNB users.

For business owners, these goodies are for you!

  • Pay subsidy 3.0 to be introduced. All businesses operating under the MCO environment are eligible. Employers will receive RM600 for each staff, whos salary is below RM4,000 and the staff limit will be increased from 200 to 500.
  • Grant of RM1,000 will be given to SMEs operating under MCO, while grant of RM500 for those who operate under CMCO or RMCO.
  • A one-off assistance of RM500 for all taxi, bus and e-hailing drivers.
  • Conditions for excise duty and sales tax exemption applied on transferring and disposing private taxis of at least 7 years had not been reduced to 5 years. Applies until 31 December 2021 only.
  • Micro loan application process offered by BSN, Agrobank and Tekun Nasional will be hasten.
  • Foreign businesses are now able to obtain a guarantee scheme from SJPD, provided that its employees are at least 75% Malaysians.
  • Lessees of MARA properties now enjoy a 30% rental discount for 6 months starting November 2020 to April 2021.
  • Loan restructuring scheme offered by MARA for those borrowed from MARA.
  • Special Tax Reduction for property owners who give at least 30% rental discount to SMEs, extended to 30 June 2021.
  • Levy on foreign workforce will be exempted for companies which did not operate during MCO and CMCO.
  • 10% electricity bill discount for industry of hotel, theme parks, convention centers or shopping malls, airlines operating locally and travel agencies.
  • 50% loan guarantee for all tour bus or taxi loans. Moratorium of 12 months or loan restructuring scheme will be offered.
