The Ramadan month is near and the long awaited Hari Raya is just around the corner. Many are excited to visit their hometown to celebrate this festive season with their loved ones.
However, with the Covid-19 situation in Malaysia is far from being satisfactory, Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin said that possibility of allowing interstate travel in conjunction with Hari Raya needs to be studied first before any decision is taken.
He said the decision will depend on the 6 indicators that the Health Ministry had stipulated to allow interstate travel and they are the following:
- Number of positive cases
- Number of patients discharged
- Rate of infection
- Number of deaths
- Availability of hospital beds in ICU
- Number of frontliners available
Muhyiddin added this is to ensure the safety of the people.
As reported in FMT, he said “But as for interstate travel, I can’t allow it yet. We will study carefully and make an announcement when the time is right.” during his visit with Felcra settlers at Bukit Kepong on yesterday (27 March).
Muhyuddin once again reminded the people to comply strictly to the SOPs as to ensure that the Covid-19 situation remained under control and everyone would be able to visit their hometown during the festive season.
