Malaysians need to stop the trend of extreme spicy food menus and the challenge of eating such foods because it can have detrimental effects on our health.
According to a doctor, he said spicy foods contribute to the factors that cause gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) to heartburn and acidic belching. Apart from that, it will cause the condition of a person who has inflammation of the stomach (gastritis), stomach ulcers and hemorrhoids more severe.
“Usually, when it is too spicy, people will eat fast! Chew it just like the rate. This is something that is not good for digestion of food that starts from the mouth. In the mouth the food needs to be physically crushed, i.e. chewed.
“Besides that, in the mouth chemical digestion also occurs. The enzyme amylase from saliva is flattened on food during chewing. The function of this enzyme is to break down starch into smaller units of carbohydrates or simple sugars.
“When not chewed properly, digestion and digestion will be affected. So we do not get all the nutrients from the food we eat. Rugi kan? ” he said via a tweet on Twitter on Sunday.
In the meantime, Dr Kamarul said, the community must be responsible to stop the trend.
“This is because there are internet challenges that invite to that. It is said that if a person takes up the challenge of enduring this spicy past, he will be considered great and seen as ‘cool’.
“Who planted this assumption? It’s us! We who sow that perception through social media, are aided by the food and beverage industry, whether small enterprises or giant companies. Opponents want to produce the most spicy menu!
“Until there are customers who have stomach aches, constant diarrhea and bleeding hemorrhoids. So, we are also responsible for stopping this thing. Don’t do all those challenges again, ”he explained.
I think, it’s time we stop the trend of extreme spicy food menus, and the challenge of eating spicy food. It’s a trend that can affect health.
