“Firemen managed to get him out of the drain after cutting off the power supply to the area.” he said in a statement.

Meanwhile, Sandakan District Police Chief, ACP Mohd Azhar Hamin said that there was other equipment near the victim, which lead to the assumption that he was conducting an illegal activity.

“Police also believe that the victim was stealing an electrical cable, as we found a cable that has been cut, and tools such as a wire cutter, screwdriver and knife near the body.”

“Investigation as of now did not find any element of foul play that has caused the death of the victim.” he said in a statement.

He added that the body has been sent to the forensic unit of Duchess of Kent Hospital for post mortem.

Meanwhile, he said the investigation is still ongoing and the case is classified as sudden death.
