Did you know that Kelantan’s Big Buddha Statue is taller than Brazil’s Jesus Statue?

Over the past weeks, we’ve heard a lot of discussions on skyscrapers. However, most of us forgot that Malaysia is the house of one of the tallest statues that exist around the world.

Recently, Twitter user @Elill_E took it online to share two photos comparing the Big Buddha Statue of Wat Phothikyan Phut Thak Tham that was located in Bachok, Kelantan, Malaysia to the iconic Christ the Redeemer statue in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

To his surprise, the Big Buddha Statue (39m) is taller than the Christ the Redeemer statue (30m), and one of the tallest statues in the world.

The tweet has since gone viral online as it captures the attention of netizens, with many claiming that they only got to knew about this after reading the tweet.

Many local netizens shared how tall the statue look from afar.

“I’ve always looked forward to seeing this statue when I go back to my hometown,” a netizen said.

Malaysia’s tallest statue is the Murugan Statue in Batu Caves

The original video of the tallest statues in the world was posted on Real Data’s YouTube channel back in December 2021. However, not all statues were included in the list and in fact, the Big Buddha Statue is the second tallest statue in the country.

Malaysia’s tallest statue is the Murugan Statue located at the entrance of Batu Caves, with a height of 42.7 metres.
