Malaysians can always find something to celebrate for since their nation is athletics. Following the conclusion of Harimau Malaya’s AFF Mitsubishi Electric Cup campaign, the public’s focus is now on the current Petronas Malaysia Open 2023, the first of this year’s BWF World Tour Super 1000-class competitions.
The Enhanced Touch ‘n Go NFC cards, which feature national elite badminton players who are competing in the tournament, were created in collaboration with the event by the Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) and Touch ‘n Go.
Aaron Chia and Soh Wooi Yik, as well as Nur Izzuddin Rumsani and Goh Sze Fei, two more men’s doubles teams, are on the list, for those who are unfamiliar. Pearly Tan and Thinaah Murautharan, who represent the women’s doubles, are also on the card, while Ng Tze Yong, who represents the men’s singles, has his own card.
Each of the cards contained the players as well as their autographs, as shown in the image above. Other than the release date, neither BAM nor TNG have provided any other information on these uniquely designed TNG NFC cards.
For one, it is unclear if they would be offered as a set of four or as single cards, and no information was provided on their price tags. The special edition versions were priced substantially more here based on earlier releases, even though the normal TNG card is just RM10 per piece.
As of now, TNG has “officially” created three unique variations of the card: HONOR 70 Icelandic Frost, United Voice, and Mission GreenPossible. The first two cards cost RM25 apiece, but you could only get the third one by getting the HONOR 70 Icelandic Frost gadget itself.
From Saturday, January 14, through Sunday, January 15, only the TNG booth in the BAM Juara Fest area of Axiata Arena will sell all four cards. TNG is also selling the TNG NFC card and RFID bundle while we’re at it, but you don’t have to wait until this weekend to get it—the bundle is currently on hand at the booth.
Because the release will occur on the final two days of the Petronas Malaysia Open, if you truly want to get your hands on these cards, you should be ready to deal with a long line and a large crowd.
