“That’s ridiculous!” M’sian drivers slapped with a RM1,000 compound by Klang council for parking offences

News"That's ridiculous!" M'sian drivers slapped with a RM1,000 compound by Klang council...

About 30 vehicle owners were issued a RM1,000 compound ticket each by the Klang Municipal Council (MPK) for illegal parking.

According to Harian Metro, the incident took place at a field multipurpose hall in Taman Eng Ann, Klang last Sunday (8 January).

It is understood that a majority of vehicles which parked there were parents who were attending their children’s taekwondo competition at the hall which was organised at the district level.

Speaking to the Malay daily, one of the vehicle owners, who only want to be known as Nantharajan, said he was shocked by the amount of the fine dished out by the city council.

“I felt odd as the program I attended was on a holiday, which is Sunday. The amount of the compound is ridiculous.”

“Most of those present today are parents from various schools throughout the district. Considering that this area is a residential area and there is no sign prohibiting parking vehicles here, it is very unfair to us,” he said.

They should have give warning before dishing out compounds

Meanwhile, another parent, Hafiz, said he was disappointed with the city council for being inconsiderate.

“They should be more considerate because the field is public property, it does have road access to park on the edge of the field.”

“In addition, the enforcers should have warned the public by making an announcement beforehand because we were only in the hall,” he said.

Hafiz then urged the authorities to withdraw these tickets as RM1,000 is not a small amount.

“Imagine if almost all parked vehicles are slapped a compound,” he added.

Responding to the matter, Klang MP V Ganabatirau said he would seek an explanation from the council over the matter.
