“Why use the people’s money to help landslide victims?” Pro-PN/PAS politician criticises govt for giving financial aid with public funds

Social News"Why use the people's money to help landslide victims?" Pro-PN/PAS politician criticises...

Earlier this month, a devastating landslide hit a campsite in Batang Kali and claimed 31 lives.

In response to the tragedy, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim announced financial aid of RM10,000 to the families of deceased victims and Bantuan Wang Ihsan monetary aid of RM1,000 each to surviving victims of the fatal disaster.

However, it seems that this move by the Prime Minister did not sit well with activist and politician Badrul Hisham Shaharin.

Speaking at a ceramah in Melaka, Badrul condemned the government for using the people’s money to provide compensation for the victims.

He also claimed that the Pakatan Harapan (PH) led state government is taking bribes but did not elaborate further on that.

“It’s not like I want to criticise the government for taking responsibility towards the victims, but what I do want to criticise is that, with the economic situation, the difficult situation today, those in power in Selangor, Pakatan Harapan are still taking bribes.”

“But when they want to pay compensation, they used the people’s money. Our money is used,” he said.

That’s the whole point of having public funds

However, netizens on Twitter have a different opinion of Badrul’s remarks and a majority of them criticised Badrul for making such a controversial remark.

“This is the whole point of the people’s money. It’s for the people. PAS PN only thinks that the people’s money is for them and their cronies,” a netizen said.

“Okay la, the people’s money to be used to help people who are affected by disasters. It’s better than it being used to buy new Mercedes for their excos,” another said.
