“That’s natural selection” M’sians condemned those who ignore authorities’ flood warning to bath in river

While the disaster that took place in Batang Kali caught everyone by surprised as it happened without any warning, it appears that some Malaysians are still ignorant towards the authorities of potential disasters.

According to Bernama, some Malaysians were seen taking a bath in a river at the Hutan Lipur Ulu Bendul, Negeri Sembilan and enjoying themselves although the protected forest is temporarily closed due to the risk of floods.

In a tweet, the news portal wrote, “Stubborn or could not care more? There are still several individuals who still visit the Ulu Bendul Forest Recreation Center, Kuala Pilah, Negeri Sembilan even though the area is temporarily closed as a precautionary measure following the monsoon season.”

“There is a risk of headwater phenomenon (Referring to the sudden and rapid rise in water volume and velocity in the upper part of a river).”

Bernama also pointed out the fact that the authorities had put up signages and warnings regarding the temporary closure of the place and the risk of floods but these people remained ignorant.

“Closure notices and warning tape have been put up at Taman Ular Ulu Bentul and at the entrance to Gunung Angsi via the old Bukit Putus road. The closure is made as a precautionary measure until a further notice.”

Reckless people being irresponsible

Meanwhile, netizens expressed disappointment in those who did not heed the warning from the local authorities and for putting themselves and their loved ones in danger.

“I don’t know what you can do about human nature though, it’s not the biggest sacrifice anyone has been asked to make,” a netizen said.

“I don’t understand this kind of people, they would realise only after something happen to them,” another netizen said.
