The Internet has revolutionised the way we communicate with each other and transfer information. Unfortunately, this has also contributed to the spread of child pornography.
Recently, a 39-year-old man in Klang was arrested by the police for possessing child pornography during a raid at his home on Tuesday (13 December).
In a statement, PDRM secretary Datuk Noorsiah Mohd Saaduddin said the raid was carried out by the Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department (JSJ) Sexual, Women and Children Crime Investigation Division (D11).
She said the police found a large amount of child pornography in the man’s computer during the raid.
The suspect’s computer, external hard drive, router and mobile phone were confiscated as well.
Noorsiah said the preliminary investigation found that the suspect had allegedly communicated with child victims and downloaded child pornography via social media.

Collaboration between PDRM and FBI
She added that the success of the arrest is due to the cooperation between PDRM and the United States Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).
As the result, the suspect is being remanded for four days until 17 December.
Noorsiah said the investigation will be conducted under Section 10 of the Sexual Offenses Against Children Act 2017 and Section 292 of the Penal Code.
If convicted, one would face up to three years in prison, a fine, or both.
As for now, investigations are still ongoing to identify the victims involved in the case.
