VIP convoys are no strangers to Malaysians due to the unpleasant experience they give to Malaysians. However, this rare incident that happened in Malaysia could change our impression of VIP convoys.
Recently, the newly-appointed Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim has once again won the hearts of Malaysians for ‘lending’ his police escorts to an ambulance rushing to its destination.
In a viral TikTok video shared by user @bengkelminda, the dashcam footage shows how traffic came to a slow crawl when the familiar blaring siren was heard coming from behind the vehicle owner.
It is believed that the incident took place somewhere near Kajang.
After hearing the emergency siren, vehicles would normally make way for the emergency vehicle to pass by.
However, in this incident, a police motorcycle can be seen taking the lead, while an ambulance followed swiftly behind it. Not long after, more police vehicles and government officials’ cars following behind.
Meanwhile, eagle-eyed netizens were quick to spot that one of the cars was actually Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s Proton Perdana limousine and apparently, he ‘lent’ his police escorts to the ambulance.
Anwar leads by example!
The incident has since went abuzz on social media with many praising Anwar for putting the people on top of his priority list.
“That’s Anwar for you, if the leader sets a good example, those under him would follow. Leadership by example,” a netizen said.
“Great work Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, our 10th Prime Minister, putting people first,” another netizen said.
Meanwhile, one netizen sarcastically compared the time when an ambulance was stopped by the VIP convoy to give way for a VVIP.
“If I’m not wrong, back then some ministers stopped an ambulance just because they wanted to go first. I forgot who,” the netizen said.
