Former prime minister Najib Abdul Razak’s daughter, Yana Najib has recently taken to her socials to remind Malaysians about Najib’s judicial review that is expected to take place next January.
However, Yana had requested for the hearing to be broadcasted live in the spirit of ‘openness’ and ‘transparency’.
In a Facebook post, Yana said his father’s judicial review is scheduled on 19 January 2023 and this is his last chance to go home early, not 12 years later.
“I think Anwar Ibrahim’s government should act transparently and allow a live broadcast of this trial via online streaming,” Yana said.
She also shared a screenshot of a headline that showed a petition for a live broadcast for Najib’s trial which had garnered up to 35,000 signatures.
Malaysians supported the move!
Her post has since gone viral online, with many Malaysians agreeing that the hearing should be broadcasted live.
“YES! Link to petition please,” a netizen said.
“Agree, Najib should be given a chance to clean his name, not only in the court but in the media,” another netizen said.
Meanwhile, several netizens also prayed that Najib would win the trial and go home early.
“Yes, agree with that. Broadcasting it without any constraint, free from political influences and pressures. All evidence will be presented before the court for a fair trial. There are too many professional liars who don’t want to see Najib goes free,” a netizen said.
“Hope that Najib will be given a chance to clear his name, as well as to give the people a chance to understand the truth of the case,” another netizen said.
