Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim announced his cabinet line-up last Friday (2 December), but there was already claims to topple the unity government and that Anwar’s cabinet will not last long.

According to Utusan, Arau MP Datuk Seri Shahidan Kassim claims that the current government would not last as Perikatan Nasional (PN) and they are currently working on taking over Putrajaya.

“We are grateful, a good sign now is that we have seen extraordinary support for the PN. I congratulate Anwar Ibrahim’s Cabinet line-up. We accept what happened.”

“We are working hard now so that this Cabinet will not last long and God willing we will return to rule based on the people’s mandate,” Shahidan said.

At the same time, Shahidan also said that Anwar’s cabinet line-up was not up to expectation as ‘losers’ were appointed as ministers. He added that this is because Pakatan Harapan (PH) had no industry experts.

“There are many powerful parliamentarians from UMNO and DAP, but they are not appointed ministers for these important ministries. It could be that Anwar thinks they are not bright enough, or have no expertise,” he said.

He then claimed that Anwar’s cabinet lineup was influenced by political pressure and not much interest in serving the people.

PAS-led state governments should hold state elections soon

Shahidan also called for the PAS-led state governments to call for the state elections as soon as possible to capitalise on the strong support for the coalition.

“The people are unhappy with the cabinet lineup, as well as UMNO. The Indians are also unhappy because MIC is not in the cabinet. Thus, I believe this is a good time to call state elections in Kedah, Kelantan and Terengganu,” he said.

PN has been upping its criticisms against Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and his unity government, especially after he named UMNO president Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi as one of his two deputy prime ministers and for appointing ‘losers’ as ministers.

Among them were PKR secretary-general Datuk Saifuddin Nasution who lost the Kulim-Bandar Baru seat but was appointed home minister, and UMNO’s Datuk Seri Tengku Zafrul Abdul Aziz who lost Kuala Selangor but appointed international trade and industry minister.
