Sanusi: Voters who demand for ‘petrol money’ are stupid and an embarrassment

Kedah Perikatan Nasional (PN) chief Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor has slammed its supporters for asking for fares to return to vote during a speech in the 15th General Election (GE15) campaign for the Padang Serai Parliament seat.

In a viral TikTok video, Sanusi can be heard saying that voters who begged for fares of RM50 to RM100 are stupid and calculative while adding that his coalition had now lost the chance to rule at the federal level.

He then compared the PN supporters to those of Pakatan Harapan (PH) and said how some of them are willing to travel home although they are staying abroad, some as far as Australia and the United States.

“Our opponents came back from Taiwan, from China, from Singapore, from America, from Australia, they didn’t even ask for ‘sekupang’ (a penny).”

“They knew the importance in assuming control of this land. Here you are asking for RM50. You are stupid,” he said.

He also cited an example where one family from Australia spent RM40,000 just to return to vote for Pakatan Harapan. Even more, they did not even ask for a single sen in return.

“Your vote is important. Don’t be calculative over RM50 to RM200 worth of petrol money,” he said.

The Padang Serai parliamentary election has been postponed to 7 December after PH’s candidate, M. Karupaiya passed away due to a heart attack while campaigning.

The parliamentary seat will see a six-cornered fight between PH candidate Dr Mohamad Sofee Razak, Datuk Sivaraajh Chandran (Barisan Nasional), Azman (PN) and Hamzah Abd Rahman (Pejuang), Mohd Bakhri Hashim (Warisan), and independent candidate Sreanandha Rao.
