PH will act on the ‘overwhelming’ slanders against Anwar and the unity government

NewsPH will act on the 'overwhelming' slanders against Anwar and the unity...

Ever since Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim was sworn in as Malaysia’s 10th prime minister, the Pakatan Harapan (PH) coalition has been facing a barrage of slanderous claims from PAS.

Speaking to Free Malaysia Today, PKR communications director Fahmi Fadzil said that PH will go all-out to combat the ‘overwhelming’ slander by the Islamist party against Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim and his new administration.

He said that since took his oath on 24 November, PH and its component parties have been facing ‘one slanderous claim after another’, from Anwar being pro-Israel and supporting the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) community to DAP spreading Islamophobia.

Fahmi also revealed that PH supporters had been complaining about the false allegations against the leaders.

“There is a movement to fan these sentiments against us,” he said.

As a counter measure, Fahmi said the coalition will be creating its own content to fight the slander.

He also said that they have since lodged reports with the police and the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission.

“Hadi can’t accept that Anwar is the 10th prime minister and that this is a unity government formed on a decree by the King, a concept that was rejected by Perikatan Nasional chairman Muhyiddin Yassin,” he said.

PAS attempt to thwart the unity government

Meanwhile, DAP secretary-general Anthony Loke said that the tactic employed by PAS president Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang shows that he is trying to trying to pit PH and Barisan Nasional (BN) parties against one another to prevent the ‘unity government’ from working.

“That is indeed trying to challenge DAP. What we have achieved now, the unity government, they want to challenge.”

“We have to be patient, we will make an explanation, if there is anything that we feel is slanderous, then we will make a police report,” Loke was quoted as saying.
