If you had RM1 million in cash, what would you do with it? While there’s a ton of things you can do with a million, this uncle from Kuala Lumpur said the best way is to gamble with it.

According to a street interview by TikTok page @streetothepoint, this elderly man explains in Mandarin why he chooses to gamble with the million ringgit.

“Everything in life is a gamble. Starting a business is gambling. Getting yourself a job is gambling. Even studying is a kind of gamble where you are gambling your future,” he said.

When asked if he would invest the million ringgit, the uncle said that windfalls are never a good thing.

“Greedy people are doomed to fail. Don’t be greedy,” he said.

Retiring with RM1 million?

Nonetheless, according to Employees Provident Fund’s (EPF) chief strategy officer Nurhisham Hussein, Malaysians living in the Klang Valley should have at least RM1 million if they plan to retire in 20 or 30 years.

Nurhisham said this amount is the bare minimum to live comfortably in the country’s capital, Kuala Lumpur and these estimates had factored in inflation and ordinary outpatient medical needs or visits to general practitioners, but not any major medical needs.

As for those who are looking for retiring outside of the country’s capital, they would need only around RM600,000.
