Pakatan Harapan (PH)’s Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim (DSAI) will be appointed as the country’s next prime minister and he will be sworn in at 5 pm today.

In a statement, Istana Negara said the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Sultan Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah, said the decision was made following the discussion with the Malay rulers this morning.

The King also called for unity among all MPs to safeguard the future of the country.

“His Majesty stressed that the nation is a treasure that the various leaders are entrusted with. This treasure must be looked after because it will be passed on to the next generation,” the statement reads.

Putting an end to political turmoil

Meanwhile, the King also mentioned that Malaysians have been burdened by the unending political turmoil over the past few years and needed a stable government was needed to usher in economic recovery and national development.

“Dewan Rakyat MPs who have been elected by the people are also reminded to always show solidarity by prioritising the people.”

“The Malay Rulers also support the King’s stand on the formation of a stable government as soon as possible following the general election,” His Majesty said.

Who’s the deputy?

Meanwhile, Malay Mail was reported that UMNO’s Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan could be made a deputy prime minister in a unity government.

According to the proposal, UMNO would also be offered a number of key portfolios in the next Cabinet.

With this, the week-long and tension-filled drama has finally come to an end.
