Muhyiddin rejects Agong’s request for a unity government, netizens slam him for being arrogant and egoistic

NewsMuhyiddin rejects Agong's request for a unity government, netizens slam him for...

Yesterday (22 November), the Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah summoned both Pakatan Harapan (PH) and Perikatan Nasional (PN) leaders, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin to the palace for an audience with His Highness to resolve the current deadlock.

However, in a press conference after Muhyiddin left the National Palace, Muhyiddin said he has rejected the King’s proposal for PN to form a unity government with his rival coalition, PH.

He explained that his party has always stood firm on their policy of not cooperating with PH.

“Because it is said that there is not one that has a sufficient number for a simple majority, Tuanku suggested that we (PN) work together with PH, to form a unity government. Unity government, kerajaan perpaduan or what la,”

“But we have discussed it since earlier on, we will not work together with PH. That is our party’s stance to this day. For whatever purpose, for unity or for whatever, we decided that we do not agree,” he said.

His interest above the people’s

Meanwhile, his remarks did not go well with many Malaysians who believe that he is disrespecting the Agong’s request for a unity government while putting his party’s interest above the best interest of the people.

“He even rejected the Agong’s request for racial unity. Who is he? Is be above the Agong? If this is the case, you make your own government la, you can be the Agong and you can be the Minister. Easier that way,” a netizen asked.

“Ego. Putting your personal interests above the people. If you think that you are right, that you are strong in governing and have done it and shown that you can, don’t give face. In this case, you haven’t done anything and are just saying that only you are right. The truth is that you are weak,” another netizen said.

PN reverting to its ‘old habits’

Nonetheless, UMNO Youth chief Datuk Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki has also criticised the PN leaders for being arrogant.

On Facebook, Asyraf slammed PN for reverting to its ‘old habits’ when it attempted to silently ‘steal’ 10 BN parliamentarians to support Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin as prime minister.

“That is why the meeting with PN, which was scheduled two days ago, had to be postponed several times. PN claimed it had enough ‘numbers’ to support Tan Sri Muhyiddin as PM,” Asyraf revealed.

“Up to the point where the 10 statutory declarations (SDs) signed by BN parliamentarians were retracted under orders from the BN Supreme Council.”
