Last month, a football match in Indonesia turned deadly after football fans from the losing team invaded the pitch, causing the authorities to fire tear gas in an attempt to control the situation.
On Monday (21 November) night, yet another riot broke out at Stadium Sultan Mizan Kuala Terengganu, where Terengganu fans assaulted the Selangor team and prevented Selangor fans from leaving.
According to pictures and videos that have since been circulated on social media, Terengganu supporters were seen throwing stones and traffic cones at the bus carrying Selangor players leaves the stadium to return to the Klang Valley.

Players and their children traumatised
Among them who were in the stadium was Twitter user @MOFASAD, who shared several videos of the incident on his Twitter page.
“As per usual. Got surrounded after the game ended. This time, it got a little violent,” he wrote in the caption.
Some of the players’ children who were at the scene were traumatised by the incident.
This came after the Terengganu team’s loss to the Selangor team in the second semifinal game of the 2022 TM Malaysia Cup.
Uncivilised and shameful
Meanwhile, netizens slam the Terengganu fans for being a hooligan and urged the authorities to look into this matter.
“We should also do something to counter football extremism,” a netizen said.
“Mentality still same as 3rd world country, disgusting act from some fans, shame on you,” another netizen said.
The Malaysia Cup final between Selangor and Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) will take place on Saturday and we hope that such an incident will not repeat itself.
