Social NewsHere's how Malaysians can watch the FIFA World Cup from Qatar Online

The FIFA World Cup, one of the biggest sporting events in the world is returning. 32 of the top football teams in the world will compete in eight stadiums in Qatar over the course of the upcoming month.

The matches for the group stage will start at 12:00 AM, 3:00 AM, 6:00 PM, and 9:00 PM.

The timing will then change to 3:00 AM and 11:00 PM for the Round of 16 and Quarter Finals. The 3rd Place and Grand Final games will start at 11:00 PM, and both Semi-Final matchups will start at 3 AM.

In general, there are many matches that will start before 12:00 AM, so the timing does not seem too problematic for Malaysian football fans. Not only that, but you can also watch them for free online in Malaysia without any backdoor hanky panky.

Malaysia is a nation obsessed with football, therefore it is not unexpected that the federal government has allocated funds to allow Radio Televisyen Malaysia (RTM) to broadcast the FIFA World Cup. The cost of the Qatar 2022 edition was RM32.5 million.

RTM will only air 41 of the event’s 64 matches, in contrast to pay-TV service Astro (more on them later). Only 27 of these matches will be shown live, although at the very least, the opening and closing bouts are included.

RTM will broadcast the FIFA World Cup 2022 matches for free on three channels, including TV2, Okey, and Sukan RTM. All you have to do to see them online is go to RTMklik, which is RTM’s streaming service.

Look for the RTMKlik app for mobile devices in the Apple App Store and Google Play. Check out the RTM Mobile app at the Huawei AppGallery if you use a Huawei device.
