We all know that the road conditions in Malaysia can sometimes be terrible, especially in the rural areas. Unfortunately, these terrible road conditions is one of the reasons that cause accidents to happen.
Recently, a 17-year-old student from Batu Pahat, Johor tragically lost his life after succumbing to the injuries he got from a motorbike accident.
According to China Press, the incident took place at 6.00 am on Tuesday (1 November) along Jalan Merah, Batu Pahat, when the student was on his way to school when he rode over an uneven manhole cover, causing him to topple onto the ground.

Sustained injuries to head
As a result of the incident, he suffered critical injuries to his head and was unconscious when help arrived. He was then rushed to the hospital to receive emergency treatment.
However, he spent two days in a coma and the haemorrhage in his brain eventually cause multiple organ failures.
While warded in the hospital, the student was said to be still responsive and even shed tears when his mother called out his name.

Several of his classmates and teachers also visited him after they found out about the shocking news of his accident.
Meanwhile, the family initially suspected that he was a victim of a hit-and-run accident with a Proton car. However, the dashcam footage of the incident showed that the student rode over a manhole cover before falling onto the ground while the Proton drove past.
Several eyewitnesses later confirmed that was the case.
After having gone through this tragedy, the family called out to the Public Works Department and the local government to take full responsibility and repair the manhole cover so as to prevent others from falling into the same tragedy.
