With the addition of road tax renewal, Setel has added another another feature to its app. Customers within Peninsular Malaysia who renew their road tax through Setel receive their new road tax in about three to five business days thanks to a partnership with My Roadtax Store.
For people in East Malaysia, the delivery window is between five and seven business days. The app from Petronas’ fintech division can only be used by some people to renew their vehicle registration.
For starters, persons who possess motorcycles or who use their vehicles for e-hailing—which must be done in person at Road Transport Department (JPJ) branches—are not eligible for this service. Only those between the ages of 18 and 75 are eligible, and they must also have a current auto insurance policy and road taxes that are no more than two months old.
Additionally, the car itself must be under 20 years old and unblacklisted by JPJ. Customers must provide Setel with a number of information for the renewal procedure, including the licence plate number, the owner’s full name, and an identification number such as a passport, MyKad, police ID, army ID, or corporate registration number.
Users must confirm the type of their vehicles and the specifics of their delivery after entering these facts in order to proceed with payment. When it comes to pricing, Setel charges RM 5 as a service fee and an additional RM 15 for Peninsular Malaysia and RM 18 for Sabah and Sarawak for delivery.
