On Thursday (27 October), residents of an apartment in Puchong, Selangor were alarmed to see a massive waterfall after one of the water storage tanks on top of the building burst.
According to Harian Metro, the incident took place at Apartment Block B Penaga Mas, in Taman Mas at 7.40 pm.
A video of the incident has since went circulated on social media, showing the sudden rupture of the tank, followed by the massive ‘waterfall’ gushing down from the 18.3 metres (60 feet) tall building that landed onto the vehicles parked underneath.
About four minutes later after the tank run dry, the residents could be seen rushing out to check on their vehicles.
Sepang district police chief ACP Wan Kamarul Azran Wan Yusof was quoted by Bernama saying that fragments of the damaged water storage tank were found to have fallen on the vehicles parked at the bottom of the apartment block.
As a result of the incident, six vehicles had their windshields broken and severely dented bonnets.
Fortunately, the incident did not involve any casualties and only damaged property. He also urged the victims whose cars were damaged from the incident to lodge a police report for insurance claims.
He also said that water tankers from Pengurusan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd (Air Selangor) were sent to supply clean water to the 172 affected homes.
Netizens amused but sympathises victims
Meanwhile, netizens were amused by the incident but at the same time, expressed sympathy for those whose cars suffered damages.
“It looks like a water theme park,” a netizen said.
“Washing the car inside and out all at once,” another netizen said.
