Following the dissolution of the Parliament, the Election Commission (EC) announced that the application for postal voting for the 15th General Election (GE15) would now be open for Malaysians who are staying abroad.

In a statement, the EC said the submission deadline will be announced after the election date has been determined.

For voters under Category 1A (election officers, EC members or officers, police, army personnel and press), they are required to apply by using Form 1A downloaded from the EC’s official portal at https://www.spr.gov.my and then send it to the managing officer’s office of the relevant election division.

The EC said that the information of the managing officer’s office and the address will be available on the EC’s official website.

As for Category 1B (Malaysian citizens abroad) and 1C (agencies or organisations), applications can be submitted online through https://myspr.spr.gov.my/login.

Meanwhile, the EC also announced that a special meeting will be held to discuss and determine the key dates for GE15. It added that it will take into consideration the state seat of N.66 Bugaya, Sabah and that would be held on a later date.

On Monday (10 October), Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob unexpectedly announced that Parliament will be dissolved with immediately effect to pave way for the 15th general election (GE15).

With this dissolution, a general election is set to be held within 60 days from 10 October.
