Recently, a TikTok video showed a group of youngsters drinking from unopened bottles at the supermarket had gone viral with many netizens criticising them for their disgusting move.
The video was shared by TikTok user @encikcb and it has since garnered over 660,000 views, 10,500 likes and over 800 comments.
The 27-second short clip first showed a man drinking from an unopened bottle at a supermarket without paying before putting it back on the shelf. Following that, a young girl did the same before taking out new bottles and putting them into her cart, leaving the one she drank behind.
“If you were to see people like these, what would you do?” the user wrote in the caption.
In the comment section, many netizens condemned the group for coming up with such a disgusting idea. They also called on the authorities to take action against the group.
Meanwhile, the viral video has also caused shoppers to be wary about buying drinks in supermarkets.
Some netizens, as well as Borneo Bulletin, had identified that the incident took place at Soon Lee Megamart in Kuala Belait, Brunei late last month. It is said that the group made the video as a ‘prank’, but the individuals involved were later arrested.
Following the incident, Soon Lee Megamart also issued a statement to reassure customers that they have done all necessary checks to make sure that the products are sealed properly and are safe for consumption and use.
Whether prank or not, one should never pull this off in the public due to hygiene concerns.
