A commercial by Petronas back in 2007 starring 2 school kids ‘confessing’ their fondness for each other has captured the hearts of Malaysians.
The advertisement titled, “Tan Hong Ming In Love” was written by the late Yasmin Ahmad, starring Tan Hong Ming and Ummi Khazriena, and was released in conjunction with Malaysia’s 50th independence day celebration.
The 2007 short film is a cultural phenomenon and it has successfully conveyed the message of racial harmony among Malaysians up until today.
If you are missing the couplet, here’s some good news for you! The duo is coming back for this year’s celebration and will be in another commercial together.
In a Facebook post, local lifestyle jersey brand Lokalteez shared that Ummi and Hong Ming were recently united to star in a new commercial for Malaysia’s 65th independence day celebration.
The new commercial titled “Ummi & Tan Hong Ming: Remembering Yasmin Ahmad”, is directed by SlenFadzil, an experienced entertainment and scriptwriter.
The 8-minute video showed both Ummi and Hong Ming sharing the latest updates on their lives and reminiscing their moments with the late Yasmin Ahmad.
The pair also revealed that before filming the advertisement, they last saw each other in 2017 for an interview.
Meanwhile, both of them have been busy with their pursuits, with Ummi currently being employed as a building management executive, while Hong Ming is a student at a renowned private university.
