PAS president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang has called on the people to eradicate corruption holistically as being involved in one is committing a huge sin.
However, Hadi also accused the non-Muslims and non-Bumiputeras of being the ones most involved in causing corruption.
In a Facebook post, he said that if the country wants to deal with corruption, it must first tackle it from the ‘grass roots’.
“If not it will eventually become a disease. These groups who chase illicit gains are the ones who eventually control the economy. They then damage our politics as they are the roots for corruption and the majority of them are non-Muslims and non-Bumiputras,” he said.
However, he did not elaborate more on his racial claims, nor provide any justifications.
Hadi then said that Islam teachers its followers that illicit wealth is sinful.
He said, thus, all those involved in any form of corruption must be eradicated as they will not have the integrity to choose good leaders and not choosing a good leader was also committing a sin.

He also said that anybody can be corrupted, regardless of their educational background, whether they have a degree or a diploma, and only the Muslim faithful can be with integrity.
“Those who practice money politics will never pick a good leader, one with integrity. It doesn’t matter whether you have knowledge or not, even a diploma holder can be corrupted.”
“These are all characteristics of an incapable person who is filled with man made ideologies and is ill equipped to eradicate corruption,” he added.
Nonetheless, Hadi was previously accused of receiving RM90 million in 2016 from then prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak to ensure PAS’s support for Barisan Nasional and UMNO ahead of the 2018 general election.

The matter was alleged by the Sarawak Report website.
Hadi also sued Sarawak Report editor Clare Rewcastle-Brown for defamation but he later retracted the suit and opted for an out-of-court settlement. Despite the suit, Rewcastle-Brown did not retract the article.
However, Najib denied giving RM90 million to Hadi or to PAS.
