Many Malaysians would agree that ‘cables’ or connections are what it takes to be successful in the country. Unfortunately, there had been many examples showing how the higher-ups abused their position to advance their own advantage instead of their companies.

Recently, Lembah Pantai MP Fahmi Fadzil has taken to Twitter to share a WhatsApp message that showed the Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob’s son-in-law, Datuk Jovian Mandagie used the Prime Minister’s Office’s official WhatsApp media group to invite the press to attend the launching ceremony of his brand’s latest product.

The message reads, “On behalf of Jovian Mandagie and our beautiful muses of Wonder Suit by Jovian, we are pleased to extend our invitation to you for: The Media Conference of Wonder Suit by Jovian.”

The message immediately caught the attention of netizens who slammed Jovian for allegedly abusing an official government channel to promote his own personal brand.

“This could be categorised as abuse of government tools or power by someone for personal interest,” a netizen said.

“Abuse of government media for personal gain. Can make a police report. Jovian is not part of government servant,” another netizen said.

Meanwhile, a netizen called out to the ministry and asked them to explain the incident.

“Please don’t be like this PMO! You must be stern, and not just entertain the requests of Ismail’s family for familial matters! If the media turn up to his personal event then he’d get a return in investment!” the netizen said.

Several netizens also sarcastically said that this is what the prime minister mean by “Keluarga Malaysia” (Malaysian Family).
