Although it has been confirmed that Marvel Studios’ Thor: Love and Thunder will not be screening in Malaysian cinemas, Golden Screen Cinema (GSC) has gone on releasing its promo video for the movie.
Here’s a hint, it’s not what you would expect.
The 46-second short video has immediately gone viral online, garnering over 10,000 likes and 1,400 comments at the time of writing.
The video showed the elaborate set-ups of Thor’s rainbow bridge, which connects Asgard with Midgard, Love and Thunder lounge fixed with rainbow cocktail tables, as well as the movie merchandise in its cinemas.
GSC also named the clip “Thor: Love and Tunda (postponed)” and wrote in the caption, “The video was halfway done when it (the movie) was delayed and cancelled. It is a pity if we do not post it…”
The clip looked all well and good until the end, where three orangutans suddenly appeared, sitting on a red couch in what looks like a mock design of a television talk show set.

In the comment section, netizens poke fun at the authorities and at the same time, vent their frustration for not being able to enjoy the movie in the local cinemas.
“Have to give the credit to those who put so much effort to design all of these, respect that. What a shame we didn’t get the chance to watch this movie at the cinema,” a netizen said.
“All the efforts being put into the decorations are now wasted,” another netizen said.
Meanwhile, many also vented their frustration towards the Malaysian government, saying that Malaysia has gone backwards.
“I wonder what more Marvel movies will get banned after this. Great job, Malaysia. After this, it’s all Malay stories and dramas only,” a netizen said.
“It is just a movie for entertainment. As seemed we are 3 years old children and cannot differentiate what is right or wrong, and we will lose our faith watching it. The government acts like parents telling us cannot watch this and that. This country is going backwards,” another netizen said.
On Thursday (28 July), GSC announced that Disney had decided not to proceed with a theatrical release of Thor: Love and Thunder in Malaysia. The movie was initially set for release on 7 July but it was being postponed with no exact reason given.
