On Thursday (28 July), Disney announced that Marvel Studios’ Thor: Love and Thunder will not be screening in Malaysian cinemas.
Naturally, fans were left disappointed after the announcement, and many are still speculating on the reason for the ban. Some believed that it was due to LGBTQ elements, while others believed that it has something to do with the message of gods being completely unworthy of praise.
This is also the second movie by Disney that has been banned in Malaysia, with the previous one being Disney’s Lightyear.

Meanwhile, Disney did not officially explain the reason behind the ban, unlike it did with Lightyear.
Nonetheless, it is not the end for Malaysian fans as there are still other options for you to watch the movie.
Some may resort to going overseas and watching Thor in Singapore or Thailand but if this is too much for you, here are some suggestions for you. However, do bear in mind that these is all just possibilities and you may not find them applicable.

As we all know, Disney owns Marvel and the rights to the entire Thor film franchise, there is a high possibility that we may be able to watch it on Disney+ or Disney+ Hotstar.
Like most Marvel films, it will eventually hit Disney+ after their release, just like Eternals and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. However, there is no telling when this will happen.
As for Thor, it is just a matter of time before it was released on Disney+.

Meanwhile, the Lightyear movie that has been banned by the Film Censorship Board of Malaysia (LPF) for its LGBTQ element, is now set to be released in Disney+ Hotstar in Malaysia on 3 August.
With this, there is a high possibility that Thor will be aired on Disney+ but we would still have to wait for it.
