Six individuals aged 18 to 25 have been detained by the police for being involved in a horrifying bullying incident that took place in Kampung Perasing Jaya, Terengganu on Friday (22 July).
According to Sinar Harian, Kemaman District Police Chief, Superintendent Hanyan Ramlan said they received a report about the incident where the individuals were said to have accused their 15-year-old friend of stealing RM100 and then setting him on fire.
He said that the victim went home at 3 am while crying in agonising pain as he reached out to his father who was shocked to find his son suffering from burns.
Hanyan said the police have since detained the 6 individuals to help with the investigation. The case will be investigated under Section 307 of the Penal Code.
He said that the preliminary investigation found that the victim was doused with a liquid believed to be oil before he was set on fire until suffering burns.
As for the alleged RM100 theft by the victim, Hanyan said that the police are still investigating if the incident is real.
He added that all 6 detained passed their respective urine tests.
On the other hand, the victim suffered burns from his neck to his back and is currently receiving treatment in the intensive care unit (ICU) of Hospital Tengku Ampuan Afzan Kuantan, Pahang.
