The police are now tracking down a TikTok user, who posted a video of alleged bribery near a petrol station, to help in the investigation.
According to Kosmo, Brickfields District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Amihizam Abdul Shukor said the 31-second video on the social media platform showed police personnel in a patrol car receiving a bribe near a petrol station.
“Based on investigations and initial analaysis of the video clip, the incident occurred at a petrol station along the Kuala Lumpur-Seremban Highway headed toward the city.”
“We are now trying to track down the TikTok account holder to record a statement to help with further investigations,” he said in a statement on Friday (22 July).
In the video, it showed a man entering the convenience mart at the petrol station before coming back out and approached the police patrol vehicle parked by the side of the road.
After a short conversation, the man can be seen putting his hands into the patrol vehicle’s open window, seemingly handing over something to the officers, before walking away.
Meanwhile, Amihizam also urged the TikTok user or anyone with information on the date and time or licence plate number of the patrol car in the incident to come forward.
Those with information on the incident should contact the Brickfields police hotline at 03-2297 9222 or the City police hotline at 03-2115 9999.
